Sony TV to finally air ‘The Dirty Picture’ this month

After four-months of wait, Sony Entertainment Television Asia has finally confirmed a telecast date for the World TV Premiere of controversial movie ‘The Dirty Picture’.

The film starring Vidya Balan in the lead, made headlines after it was banned by the Indian government in the last minute, forcing the channel to schedule another film in its slot.

In April, the Information & Broadcasting Ministry decided that the film was not suitable for TV viewing even after around 60 cuts were advised by the censor board for television. The ministry at the time said the film cannot air before 23:00 due to the adult content and innuendos.

The channel has now confirmed that ‘The Dirty Picture’ will be shown with the suggested cuts twice on Sunday 26th August at midday and 20:30 on its worldwide beam including India, UK, USA and Canada.
