Sony TV channels to go HD in August

As revealed first on BizAsiaLive.com , Sony Pictures Networks is boosting its presence in the UK by launching a slew of new channels.

After the successful UK launch of Bollywood music channel, Sony Mix, the broadcaster is now planning to launch HD versions of its flagship channels, BizAsiaLive.com can exclusively reveal. The channels are expected to begin testing on the Sky platform in the next few days.

The launch will coincide with the planned changes on Sky, which will see channels like Sony TV, Sony MAX, Sony Mix, ZEE TV, ZEE Cinema, ZEE Punjabi and B4U Movies entering the Sky Original Pack.

After the launches of Sony TV HD an Sony MAX HD, it will be only ZEE TV and ZEE Cinema that will be without HD versions of their flagship channels. However, BizAsiaLive.com understands that the two ZEE channels will also go HD this summer, which will then see all the major Asian TV networks in HD. Currently, Star Plus, Colors and &TV are the only channels to be available in HD in the UK.

Sony Pictures Networks did not comment on the story but a reliable source has confirmed the plans to BizAsiaLive.com .
