Sony TV shifts Yash Raj shows to later slots

ash Raj TV made its debut on Sony Entertainment Television Asia with much fanfare at the start of the year but some of its shows are now being shifted to later time slots.

Channel officials will be bringing back the Sunday night movies at 20:00 from this weekend (14th March). The movie slot was moved to 17:00 earlier this year to accommodate the Yash Raj TV offerings. However, the channel has a u-turn on this after poor ratings to the Yash Raj TV shows.

Matchmaking show, ‘Rishta.com’ will move out from the Sunday night 20:00 slot to Wednesdays at 22:00. Similarly, ‘Powder’ will move from Sundays 21:00 to Thursdays at 22:00.

In other Yash Raj TV show changes, ‘Lift Kara De’ hosted by Karan Johar will become a weekly as oppose to the bi-weekly it is at the moment. The show will air Saturdays at 20:00. ‘Mahi Way’ will move to Fridays at 20:00.

Danish Khan, Vice-President, Marketing, Sony Entertainment Television Asia said, “After six to eight weeks, there is an analysis on the viewing pattern and we found that these shows had performed well in metros. The shows were being watched by a younger group, which tunes into TV at a late primetime, which is why we shifted Rishta.. and Powder to a late slot. Now we will have Sundays free for our movies.”

It was announced last year that Yash Raj Films, has signed an exclusive deal in which it will produce shows only for Sony TV. The channel has so far produced five shows – all of which are yet to click with viewers.
