Sony TV set to launch ‘Indian Idol 12’ this month

Sony TV has announced the launch date of its flagship singing reality TV show ‘Indian Idol’, which returns for its twelfth season run.

The popular series will see Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani and Himesh Reshammiya reunite as the show’s judges. Auditions for ‘Indian Idol 12’ took place in the summer virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. The show’s shooting got underway last month.

During the initial shoot of the show, Dadlani shared a video from the set, with the caption, “Every year I eagerly wait for ‘Indian Idol’ as it is a show which not only gives aspiring singers a platform but also gives us an opportunity to listen to great talent in our country. When I was approached for the show, I was excited and worried at the same time, how will be the entire procedure in this current scenario.”

He added, “When the team told me the entire procedure this time would be digital, I found this to be a great alternative. Even when we had to shoot for the promo I suggested why don’t we shoot my place, it would be safe. The team was very cooperative and while shooting, we had a crew of three people, and they made sure they were wearing the kits and were fully sanitised.”

This will be Kakkar’s first show after her wedding to singer Rohanpreet Singh in October.

‘Indian Idol 12’ starts on Saturday 28th November at 20:00 – it replaces ‘India’s Best Dancer’.
