Sony TV readies launch for fifth series of ‘KBC’

Sony Entertainment Television Asia is launching the fifth season of its hit gameshow ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) later this month.

Based on the most popular global television show in history ��Who Wants to be a Millionaire�۪, ‘KBC’ follows the same concept of giving individuals the chance to win a life changing cash prize. As the contestant moves up the money tree, the questions increase in difficulty with a total of 13 questions leading to the 5 crore Rupees jackpot.

A major unique and innovative element added to the new fifth season will allow the contestants to set their own safe haven anywhere in the money tree, adding to the immense suspense already synonymous with the show.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was confirmed host of the show for the next two series’. Commenting on this Mr Bachchan said, “Sony and I have signed on for KBC for the next 2 seasons, your blessings and encouragement needed in abundance!” he stated further, “KBC conceptually was brilliant. There was drama, learning, suspense and thrills all rolled into one. Its presentation was something that had been pioneering for Indian television. All these factors work”.
