Sony TV luring Simon Cowell for Indian ‘X Factor’

Sony Entertainment Television Asia is doing all it can to lure music mogul Simon Cowell to judge the Indian version of ‘The X Factor’.

Viewers in the UK are known for Simon to be a part of the hit talent show and with Sony TV gearing up to launch its version, it does not want to leave any stone unturned to make it a success.

A source said, “There are three judges on The X Factor. Sony TV is keenly interested in having him in the show and not only as the producer of the original format. Plans are on to launch it in a lavish way with big names on board. Internationally it can`t get any bigger than having Simon onboard.”

The source added, “A team from Sony has already left for the UK to convince him to feature in the Indian version at least in helping the jury to make the top 20 or top 12 contestants. It is their way to attract eyeballs and garner viewership.”

It remains to be seen if the channel’s determination to take Simon over to India for the shoot will materialise. He currently is busy with launching ‘The X Factor’ in the US, as well as ‘American Idol’, plus ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and ‘The X Factor’ locally.

‘The X Factor’ on Sony TV is expected to be on-air in spring this year.
