Sony Entertainment Television Asia is launching a ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ style competition to coincide with the launch of the fifth season of its hugely popular gameshow.

In India, the interactivity within shows such as ‘X Factor India’ and ‘KBC’ has always given those watching an extra dimension of involvement, and until now viewers outside of the subcontinent have been unable to experience this. With the ‘KBC’ phone-in competition, Sony TV UK viewers will be able to win prizes by calling or texting in to a “KBC style” question, with a new question and winner for every episode of the fifth season.

The competition (which runs with 56 different questions and winners for each of the shows in the season) will have prizes which are provided by Lebara including 250 credit from Lebara Mobile and 250 loaded cash card from Lebara Money.

Shalin Patel, Head of Marketing UK at SET Asia commented, “We wanted to offer this added dimension for our viewers and fans of KBC in the UK as a way of increasing the involvement they will have with the show. The Lebara KBC Phone-in Competition is the first of many plans we have for the network to offer our UK viewers more than just television channels, but instead an experience and interaction not offered anywhere else. Watch this space.”

Within each episode of ‘KBC5’, a question will be asked to those watching at home and viewers will then have 24 hours (or until the next episode) to enter via phone or SMS. The winner for an episodes competition will be announced during the following shows.

‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ launches on Monday (15th August) at 20:30 on Sony TV and will be aired Monday through to Thursday.
