Sony TV confirms launch of India’

The launch of ‘X Factor India’ will take place on Sony Entertainment Television Asia in May, BizAsia.co.uk can confirm.

According to our sources, ‘X Factor India’ will be taking to the airwaves on Sunday 29th May at 20:00 in a four-hour special.

Thereafter, ‘X Factor India’ will be shown Monday to Thursday at 21:00, in a 60-minute slot. The initial part of the show will witness the audition process, followed by group stages and live finals.

Like the UK version of the show, the Indian adaptation will also have three categories – 16���25 years, above 25 years, and individual groups. Candidates will be screened for their singing talent, attitude and star quality.

As confirmed earlier, Aditya Narayan will host the show. Sonu Nigam, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and musician Salim Merchant will form the judging panel of the Indian version.

Incidentally, the ‘Indian Premier League’ concludes on sister station, MAX in the same week, which will then lead to the debut of ‘X Factor India’.
