Sony TV confirms date for Filmfare Awards ’08

The Indian equivalent to the Hollywood Oscars will be shown on Sony Entertainment Television Asia, next month.

The 53rd Filmfare Awards has had its telecast confirmed for Sunday 24th February at 20:00. Sony TV will also be broadcasting last year’s ceremony earlier in the day at midday.

The coveted awards function is one of the oldest in the Indian film industry, running since 1953.

Films that are hotly tipped to walk away with the most gongs on the night are ‘Tare Zameen Par’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Chak De India’.
