Sony TV confirm ‘Wife Swap’ as ‘Maa Exchange’

As revealed on BizAsia.co.uk last year, Sony Entertainment Television Asia has confirmed the launch of international reality TV show ‘Wife Swap’.

However, the Indian version will be known as ‘Maa Exchange’ in case the English name deters viewers away. Each week two very different families from across the country will participate in a week-long challenge. Women from disparate backgrounds and cultural mindsets exchange homes and try to discover how daily life is while living in another woman۪s shoes. This experiment will change lives and make viewers question long held beliefs about running the household.

With Surekha Sikri at the helm, acting as sutradhar of ‘Maa Exchange’ and participants from varied backgrounds different cultures, different socio-economic backgrounds and a healthy mix of common people and celebrities sparks are sure to fly leading to not only life lessons but engrossing, electrifying entertainment.

Puja Bedi, Rajeev Nigam and Anuradha, Zehra and Farookh Merchant, Antima and Sujit Raute, Apara Mehta and Sudesh Berry are among the celebrities participating in the show with many more to follow.

Speaking about the show Mr. N.P Singh, COO Multi Screen Media said, “Sony has always been at the forefront of innovation with Indian Idol or Jassi or the new revived KBC .With Maa Exchange we expect to raise the bar once again. Through this show we plan to bring to the fore real Indian families with their own share of problems and possible ways they can deal with it when they get a new perspective. The show will mirror the times we live in and how mothers are incessantly trying to cope with the pressures of modern day family.”

Added Mr. Ajit Thakur, EVP and Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television, “We at Sony expect Maa Exchange to become a harbinger of societal change as it will be a vehicle of improving oneself and family. The show, while borrowed from the international format, has been designed keeping Indian values in mind. The content will be in line with Indian society and its beliefs. The aim is to bring an alternate perspective to our women participants and viewers and offer high quality, engaging, and alternate content on weekdays prime.”

‘Maa Exchange’ launches on Wednesday 12th January at 21:00 and will air Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
