Sony TV bags New Zealand cricket for four years

Sony Entertainment Television Asia has bagged the telecast rights for all New Zealand cricket games being played over the next four years.

According to reports, SET India’s CEO Kunal Dasgupta has forked out $50 million to secure the exclusive rights.

This is the first big cricket acquisition in years for the broadcaster. In 2002, Sony TV won a lucrative seven-year deal to showcase ICC matches including the World Cup. This was subsequently snatched by ESPN STAR Sports.
