As ZEE TV and STAR One battle it out with their new soap ‘Betiyaan’, Sony Entertainment Television Asia is readying the launch of ‘Bigg Boss’.
‘Bigg Boss’ is the title, which has been given to the much awaited Indian version of the worldwide hit reality TV show ‘Big Brother’. The programme will be produced by Endemol.
The tagline of ‘Bigg Boss’ has also been confirmed as ‘Kahin Uski Nazar…Aap Par To Nahin!’. The show is expected to go live in November.
‘Big Brother’, which contributes to over 25 per cent of Endemol’s revenues internationally, also has a lot of scope for spin-off segments. “We can have segments with psychiatrists talking about the behaviour of people who are participating in the show. There will also be an eviction talk show, wherein people who are voted out in each episode can speak about what transpired inside and why they feel they were voted out. More such spin-offs on the show like ‘Big Brother’s Little Brother’, ‘Big Brain’ and ‘Big Mouth’ will also be there,” says Endemol India managing director Rajesh Kamat.
In the next few days, the channel will be releasing information on the 12 – 14 celebrities who will be taking part in the mega TV series. Earlier it was reported Bollywood stars Arshad Warsi and Pooja Bedi were favourites to join the show. How much of that is true remains to be seen.
The celebrities will be living in a house away from the public eye and monitored by 30 cameras 24×7 for 100 days. Like the UK series, the ‘housemates’ will have no contact with the outside world; no television, no newspaper, no mobile phones and no privacy.
Other details of ‘Bigg Boss’ remain sketchy.
