Sony set for new look this Sunday

India’s number two channel Sony Entertainment Television Asia is set to get a new face, come this Sunday (24th October).

According to reports in Indian press, the channel will have a new focus with a complete set of new graphics and presentation. Even though the channel denied the new look will have a new channel logo, the revamp has been in development for the past year.

The revamp of Sony Entertainment Television Asia will coincide with the channel’s movie premiere of Koi Mil Gaya starring Hrithik Roshan, which will be shown during primetime.

Also launching later next week will be the channel’s new acquisition of Indian Idol, an Indian version of the hugely successful Pop Idol shown in the UK on ITV Network. The report also indicates that the new look will also include a sharper picture quality of the already clear channel.

Additionally, the channel is also all keen on emphasizing on its youthful image and will be focusing on its target age group of 15-34 audience further.

What may not be such good news for the channel driver Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi fans will be that the show will be going thrice weekly later this month. The monster hit for Sony Entertainment Television Asia is currently screened Monday through to Thursday at 21:30 but will be dropping its Thursday night slot to make way for Indian Idol.

What’s even worse, the channel has admitted that Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi will end in May/June of next year. Also going for a new look this weekend will be Sony’s sister station Sony Max. The channel will also sport new graphics and a new ident. Sony Max will be launching on Sky Digital later this year.
