Sony SAB TV UK to boost ratings with classic movies

Sony SAB TV has announced that it will be boosting its programming line-up for UK viewers by adding classic film titles at weekends.

Currently the channel only broadcasts movies on Sunday nights, with original shows aired during weekday primetime and repeat telecasts in other dayparts. From this weekend, the channel will air movies at 14:30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The Sunday night movie slot will be used for regular programming instead.

The channel has slowly been gathering pace in the official UK ratings. The measuring body BARB has reported a weekly reach of 239,00 for the period of 4th June and 10th June. Movies have always done well for entertainment channels and Sony SAB TV will use this strategy to entice viewers to the channel to sample other shows on the service.

The channel will air movies like ‘Doosra Aadmi’, ‘Dushman’, ‘Purab Aur Paschim’, ‘Do Aur Do Paanch’, amongst other titles. It will be the first time that the broadcaster, which holds the rights to the Yash Raj Films catalogue will showcase some of the blockbusters free-to-air on UK Asian TV.

Sony SAB TV is a free channel on Sky Digital EPG 816.
