Sony SAB TV content to offer more than just comedy

Sony SAB TV has confirmed that it will be ramping up its output with shows that go beyond the comedy genre.

In an interview with TelevisionPost, Sony SAB TV & Sony Pal’s Business Head, Neeraj Vyas said that that he was looking at changing the channel’s current mould by shifting its strategy. Making it clear that the channel will be refraining from broadcasting daily soaps, melodrama and supernatural series’, Vyas said the new direction would see more entertainment content, not necessarily with a comedy backdrop.

He said, “Comedy after one point of time gets little restrictive but we are not moving away from comedy we are adding more fun and entertaining shows. Initially, Sab was just comedy now it will be a comedy, fun, and entertainment. We will stand for everything that is entertaining.”

The channel has recently launched entertainment shows like ‘India Ke Mast Kalandar – Atrangi Hain Ye!’ and ‘Namune’. It will also be launching its big-ticket weekday show ‘Aladdin’ – a children’s fantasy series.
