Sony SAB TV to launch weekend thriller 'Powder'

Sony SAB TV is launching its first non-comedy show ‘Powder’ in a weekend slot, starting this Saturday.

The programme, which was previously shown on flagship station, Sony Entertainment Television Asia in 2010, will re-run at 21:00 on Saturday and Sunday nights. The channel, which specialises in light-hearted sitcoms, is using the slot as a differentiator for its UK beam to ramp up the weekend ratings.

‘Powder’ is based on the fight against drug abuse in India. Usmaan Ali Malik heads a team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers to take head on the drug peddlers led by drug baron Naved Ahmed Ansari. The show is produced by Yash Raj Films.

Sony SAB TV is currently riding high in the UK ratings with viewership comfortably over 500,000 viewers.
