Sony SAB to launch firefighters sitcom this month

Sony SAB TV will be adding a new show to its revamped programme line-up, later this month.

The show titled ‘Chandrakant Chiplunkar Seedi Bambawala’ is about the firefighters�۪ community and their families. It explores the humorous life of the Chiplunkar family and its mix of neighbours who always come together to help each other. The show stars Prashant Damle and Kavita Lad as a Marathi���Gujarati couple.

SAB TV senior EVP and business head Anooj Kapoor said, ���We keep trying to do different concepts all the time. The concept of this show was devised by the director of ��Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah�۪ along with the show�۪s writer Raju Odedra. It was a great story and we decided to replace ��Lapataganj�۪ as it had outlived its shelf life.�۝

NamanRaj Productions�۪ producer Dharmesh Mehta said, ���We have had an excellent relationship with SAB TV. In the past too, we have worked together on shows like ��Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah�۪, ��RK Laxman Ki Duniya�۪ and ��Paapad Pol�۪. With ��Chandrakant Chiplunkar Seedi Bambawala�۪, we aim to offer viewers a look into the life of an ever-so-selfless firefighter and the funny situations he gets into.�۝

In India, the new show replaces ��Lapataganj�۪, one of the long-running shows on the channel, which ran for around 1,500 episodes. A UK telecast time is yet to be confirmed.
