Sony SAB picks up UK rights to air Hockey India League
Sony SAB has acquired the UK broadcasting rights for the Hockey India League (HIL), which kicked off on Saturday, 28th December 2024.
Returning after a seven-year hiatus, this marks the sixth edition of the HIL. The men’s tournament will run until 1st February, while the women’s series is set to take place from 12th to 26th January.
The men’s competition features eight teams battling it out in a two-phase league stage, starting with a round-robin format where all teams face each other.

Launched in 2013, the Hockey India League was discontinued in 2017 due to financial challenges.
The broadcast rights for the HIL are held by Sony Sports Network in India, with its UK counterpart airing the tournament for viewers overseas.
