Sony Pictures Networks & Tata Sky finally sign new deal

Sony Pictures Networks and Tata Sky have finally signed a new deal, ending a dead-lock going far back as October.

The broadcaster’s 22 channels, along with TV Today Networks’ channels were removed from the digital platform due to a breakdown in talks. However, a couple of months later, the channels have now resumed broadcasting. The news was confirmed by Sony. It said, “Yes, the Sony Pictures Networks channels are back on Tata Sky.”

Tata Sky has previously said that commercial negotiations had resulted in the breakdown of talks. At the time, Harjit Nagpal, CEO & MD of Tata Sky told Exchange4Media, “Commercial negotiations with the broadcasters broke down as what they were seeking would have forced us to hike our prices. Hence we have had to drop a few channels while keeping the popular ones on. We request our subscribers to bear with us, as we are doing this in their best interest.”
