Sony Mix begins testing on Sky in UK

Sony Pictures Networks’ plans to increase its presence in the UK has taken a step forward after BizAsiaLive.com exclusively spotted EPG data tests of its Bollywood music channel, Sony MIX.

As revealed first on BizAsiaLive.com a few weeks ago, Sony Pictures Networks obtained Ofcom licences to run Sony Mix, Sony Pal and Sony MAX 2 in the UK. It was uncertain, which channel would launch first but with tests in full motion, it seems Sony Mix will be the next service to strengthen Sony Pictures Networks’ bouquet of channels in the UK. It makes sense as the network is lacking a music orientated channel and with its library of Yash Raj Films soundtracks, it is on to a winner.

The tests (not showing on all Sky boxes yet) currently only show EPG data of Sony Mix shows. Video and audio is expected to begin in May, ahead of the channel launch towards the end of the month. It seems, Sony Mix wants to jump on the music genre bandwagon after the success of B4U Music in UK ratings. It always want to get in there early before MTV Beats launches in the UK this summer.

Sony Mix EPG data tests show programmes starting from 5th May with ‘Mix Dil Se’, ‘Mix Melody’, ‘Mix Adda’ and ‘Raina Beeti Jaye’.
