Sony MAX 2 set for UK launch on Sky

Sony Pictures Networks has confirmed to BizAsiaLive.com that it will be launching Sony MAX 2 in the UK soon.

Sony MAX 2 will accompany existing movie channel, Sony MAX, which has regularly topped the UK Asian film genre. The success of the Sony network of channels, including Sony TV, Sony MAX and Sony SAB TV, has no doubt triggered the launch of Sony MAX 2.

Sony Pictures Networks has some of the biggest movies in its library, with an exclusive tie-up with Yash Raj Films and a leading of other popular production houses.

It is expected that Sony MAX will air more recent film premieres, while Sony MAX 2 will telecast classic movie titles – similar to its programme strategy in India. It will also permit the broadcaster to air more sporting properties, without disrupting programmes on the main channels. However, Sony Pictures Networks is keeping tight-lipped on its plans.

The channel’s launch date will be announced exclusively on BizAsiaLive.com in a few days.
