Sony lines up new shows in coming weeks

Sony Entertainment Television Asia, India’s number two channel is in the proccess of a revamp and it is ensuring itself that the large numbers stay with the channel during this period.

In the forthcoming changes, Sony is set to wrap up its popular drama Kkusum by year-end. Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, Sony’s other hot property is expected to move to the 22:00 slot with new shows Deal Or No Deal produced by Endemol and the much awaited Indian Idol 2 series to take over an hour of the new look prime-time slot in November.

Sources further informed that the channel was contemplating on bringing ?Idol? in the Monday and Tuesday slots and ?Deal or No Deal? in the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 21:00 slots.

At an earlier interview with Exchange4Media, the channel?s Business Head, Tarun Katial said that there would be a combination of new shows and changes in the existing ones to arrest the drop in the 9-10 pm slot. The wrapping of Kkusum is in line with this, even though more details on this aren?t available yet. However, Balaji is already in the process of developing another show for the channel, currently called ?Kandie Floss?. A new show might be coming in the 21:30 bracket for the channel.

Also starting on Sony in the next few weeks are the following shows:

Dulhan
This show, produced by Cinevistaas, will star Amit Sadh, Mahesh Thakur, Shonali Malhotra Sonii and Kiron Kher. This is a story about three brothers and their trials and tribulations.

Paisa Bhari Ho Gaya
A reality show one of its kind. This is Sony’s answer to Star One’s Nach Baliye, which is also a celeb driven reality show. Produced by FBC Media, Paisa…will make the telly celebs sweat it out for a bag full of dough in far off Hrishikesh!

Kabhi To Nazar Milao
Starring Cinestar Ki Khoj finalist, Sudeepa Singh, this UTV production is about a middle class blind girl, Sunaina.

Juana
This is the story of a girl interrupted. Artificially inseminated with somebody else’s child, and in love with a man she cannot marry, Juana is the story of a confused and world weary adolescent. Shakti Anand and Kanchi Kaul will play the leads in the show. This show will be produced by Shrey Guleri.

Kehna Hai
A woman-centric chat show hosted by TV and film star Shefali Shah. Produced by BAG films.

Celebrity chat show Batliwalla House No 43 is also expected to make a return soon in a new avatar.
