Sony India to launch film channel Sony Wah

Sony Pictures Networks will soon be launching a new free-to-air movie channel, Sony Wah.

It will be available on Freedish, followed by other cable networks in the future.

Sony Wah is currently testing and will broadcast a range of new and old movies from Sony’s library. The company already has Sony Max, Sony Max2 and Sony Max HD under its movie brand.

The trend of launching new free channels in India seems to be picking up after the success of channels like ZEE Anmol, Star Utsav, Sony Pal and Rishtey in the rural markets. Sony Wah will compete with Viacom18’s new free channel, Rishtey Cineplex and Star TV’s Star Utsav Movies.
