Sony grabs huge YashRaj movies

Sony Entertainment Television Asia has done it yet again! Days after grabbing the much hyped India vs Pakistan cricket series, it has now announced a line-up of movie blockbusters.

The channel surely knows how to make an impact by acquiring some of the biggest hits of the last couple of years. The films have been bought from the YashRaj film banner, which is widely known as the most respected production house in India.

On the way, Sony Entertainment Television Asia will be screening the TV premieres of last year’s magnum Veer Zaara starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta. Also to be shown are Hum Tum (Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee) and Dhoom, the movie which changed the fortunes of Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham.

The channel has also managed to scoop YashRaj’s two other older blockbusters Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and Mujhse Dosti Karogi.

Explaining more, Rohit Gupta, Head, Ad Sales, SET India, said, “We have an excellent line-up of movies and we have added to that with these new titles. With this, the advertiser has an opportunity to associate with premium properties, virtually every month.”

“Filmfare did well for us this year and it has built up a good pace for these programmes,” said Gupta, “what is more important is that, while we in any case have a leadership position on weekends, with these properties, that position will strengthen further.”
