Sony begins SAB TV programming rollout in June

Sony Entertainment Television Asia will be unleashing a new look schedule come 1st June. Effective from this date, the channel will be carrying a slew of new shows from SAB TV.

Last month a deal was struck between Sony Entertainment Television Asia and SAB TV. The move meant the former acquiring SAB TV for $13 million (approximately Rs 570 million). Television content provider Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network Limited (SABTNL) saw SET Satellite (Singapore) Pte Ltd acquiring the SAB TV brand as well as 1305 hours of library content (representing 20 per cent of SAB TV’s library). The programming contract between the two broadcasters runs for five years.

Next month, Sony Entertainment Television Asia will be removing its re-run shows and will be replaced with new content from SAB TV. As part of the makeover, the channel will be spicing up its daytime schedule with new shows.

The new schedule looks as follow:

15.30 Humse Hai Zamana
16.00 Daddy Samjha Karo
16.30 Platform No. 9
17.00 Aflatoon
17.30 Aaj Ka Shriman Shreemati
18.00 Yeh Duniya Hai Rangeen

Sony will be launching more SAB TV shows in days to come. Since the deal was struck, the channel SAB TV ceased broadcasting in the UK and the deal was handed over to MATV National. Both SAB TV and MATV worked hand in hand prior to the Sony deal.

Also being launched on 1st June in the UK will be the Indian Idol series. The reality show, which was aired in India earlier this year will be getting its premiere in the UK on 1st June at 19:00 and aired daily.
