Sony axes Rihhaee & Batliwalla House No 43

Sony Entertainment Television Asia is axing two of its least popular shows.

Drama serial Rihhaee will be bidding farewell to viewers next month. It is shown on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 22:30. The channel has yet to confirm an end date for the series. However, it is likely the crime thriller show CID-Special Bureau will fill the slot once Rihhee ends. This means CID-Special Bureau will air Monday through to Thursday.

Rihhaee, which began in February this year, takes a leaf from true-to-life incidents. The National Commission for Crimes against Women (NCCW) tracks cases from the show and takes up their cause. The show had Rajeshwari Sachdev and Nikhil Vaid in the lead.

Another show ending on the channel is Batliwalla House No 43, the Indian version of British hit show Kumars at No. 42. The episode aired in India tonight will be the last. It will be ending in the UK next month. Sony has been struggling to keep the show alive. It has been dwindling in the ratings since its debut earlier this year. The channel had initially thought of a replacing anchor Shahrukh Batliwalla and an episode was shot with MTV VJ Cyrus Sahukar. But now, the Hats Off production is being taken off air.
