Sonu Sood, who has been doing a lot to help those in trouble within India, starting with the aid he provided during the migrant crisis, has been awarded with the Special Humanitarian Award by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The actor was conferred with the award on Monday virtually. According to Hindustan Times, he said, “This is a rare honour. UN recognition is very special. I have done whatever little I have done, in my own humble way, for my fellow countrymen without any expectations. However, to be recognised and awarded feels good”.
Sood joins Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Watson, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett and others who have also been recognised for their philanthropic efforts by the United Nations.
