It seems controversy is following Sonu Nigam around these days. Just days after his singing on a plane made headlines comes the news that he has been ousted and replaced in a track in the film ‘Ishq Forever’ which he had recorded with Shreya Ghoshal, titled Ishq Ki Barish. The film’s rights have been sold to ZEE who said they’d never work with the singer again.

The singer himself confirmed the news. He told Mumbai Mirror, “Yes, I’ve been told that I’ve been replaced. It has happened to me a lot in the recent past so I’m not surprised. Zee has a problem with me and last April had announced that they will never work with me again”.Nigam is believed to have lent his vocals for a couple of tracks in the film’s album. In Ishq Ki Barish, his voice has apparently been replaced byNakash Aziz and Javed Ali.

Nigam had also lent his voice to a couple of songs in Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Shaandaar’ (2015) but his voice was replaced by ZEE in that instance too. “The makers of this film could have leaked the video of me recording the song,” he commented.

Shabbir Boxwala, one of the producers of ‘Ishq Forever’, also stated, “I love Sonu’s voice and have been his admirer for years. I would have loved to retain his song but we have sold the music rights to ZEE and it’s up to them to do what they want to with the songs.”

ZEE had banned the singer about a year ago, vowing not to work with him again, after he expressed support forAam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas.
