Sonu Nigam expresses unhappiness at Padma Shri for ignoring Kishore Kumar & Alka Yagnik
Sonu Nigam has voiced his disappointment over the Padma Shri Awards overlooking legendary singers such as Kishore Kumar and Alka Yagnik.
In an Instagram video shared on Sunday, a day after the awards announcement, Nigam, himself a Padma Shri recipient, expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of recognition for other iconic singers, including Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan.

“There are two singers who have inspired artists worldwide. One of them, Mohammed Rafi, has only been given the Padma Shri, and the other, Kishore Kumar, hasn’t even received that. Awards are even being given posthumously,” he said in the video, which he captioned, “India and its pending Padma Awardees.”
