Sonam Kapoor۪s Neerja۪ (2016) has received praises from pretty much all of the industry. However, although she has a fashionista image, she has said she she would forsake her beauty for a role.
Talking to Stardust, the actress said, Yes, of course I would, but it depends on the role. I would like to physically transform for a film, anything that is a good way to work. I have no qualms going without make-up. Almost 60 per cent of my films have been without make-up. Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra wanted me to shave my head for a film, and I didn۪t think about it twice. But that film didn۪t materialise. He ended up making Mirziyaa with my brother. But there is no question of me not doing something for a role. Like I said, I۪m not here to be a movie star, I۪m here to be an actor.
When asked about the importance of the story of Neerja Bhanot, Kapoor comments, I don’t know if it is important to inform people about a person like her, but they should know that people like her existed because it gives hope to many, and it will inspire them to be better than they are, because Neerja was an ordinary girl. It is because of her principles, the kind of character and the personality she was that she did something extraordinary. She went beyond the call of her duty and decided to do the right thing and faced a fear while doing it. It is important that every human being understands that even if they۪re ordinary, they can do something extraordinary and important.
Kapoor also confirmed that Battle for Bittora۪, her upcoming film, will commence next year.
