Sonam Kapoor not taken seriously?

There’s no doubt in saying Sonam Kapoor is probably one of the most versatile personalities within the Indian film industry. Standing out with her bold fashion sense and out-going personality, the actress feels these things have somehow clouded her status as an actress.

Talking to the media IBN Live reported Kapoor expressing, “People have forgotten that I am an actress, they don’t take me seriously. First it was my dressing sense then my opinionated nature, both have overshadowed my identity of a performer. I can’t change both the things, they are part of me.”

Kapoor’s outspoken nature has landed her in a few disputes in the past, however she has no regrets and believes in speaking her mind. “I will always speak my mind, in fact, I feel many in our industry don’t say what they want to, which is sad. But I can’t be like them,” she went onto say.

Having started her career in 2008 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’ and has been seen in a number of diverse roles ever since. She added, “All the directors of mine say I am underrated in the industry. I don’t know what to do about it, I guess I have not restricted myself to a particular image on screen, I have always done different roles. A single image stays with people but I can’t do that.”

Kapoor will next be seen in Shashanka Ghosh’s ‘Khoobsurat’ opposite Fawad Afzal Khan. The film is set to release on Friday 19th September.
