Sonam Kapoor: “Every misstep, every triumph has been my own”

‘Saawariya'(2007) debutante Sonam Kapoor recently shared how father, Anil Kapoor, had encouraged her to fend for herself at the age of 18, both in her professional and personal life.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Kapoor shared, “My father cut me off when I was 18. He said you want to become an adult, become an adult. I had to take responsibility and I did.. and it’s one of the best things anyone has every done for me. You know he said that I never want to make a decision for you. I can tell you what is right or what is wrong but at the end you have to make your own decision.”

The actress who won critical acclaim for her performances in ‘Neerja'(2016) and ‘Raanjhana'(2013) expressed how she had accepted her journey in Bollywood as one filled with her own choices. “Every decision I have made in my career, every misstep and every triumph has all been my own.”

The actress is currently busy shooting for joint production, sister Rhea Kapoor and Balaji Motion Pictures production ‘Veere di Wedding’ which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Swara Bhaskar in lead roles.
