Sonam Kapoor Ahuja touches on nepotism in Bollywood

In an industry where nepotism is something that is frowned upon, there are some that say it shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing. Talking about the issue and her own experiences, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja recently caught up with the media and expressed how she feels she should be using her father, Anil Kapoor’s connections and influence as that’s what he has worked for.

“Everybody thinks that it’s a relative of a person. Nepotism actually means to get a job through any connection. I think people have misunderstood it or are using the word for their own benefit, to put other people down,” Pinkvilla reports the actress stating.

She went on to add, “My father didn’t come from an illustrious family. He has worked in the industry for 40 years and he has worked really hard only for his children and if I don’t take advantage of his hard work, which he has done for us, I think that will be a little disrespectful towards his work because every man or a woman a mother or a father works for their children.”

Where people have their own take on nepotism in the industry, one can only hope that hard work and dedication toward one’s work is seen at the forefront of their success.
