Sonakshi Sinha wants change to pay disparity in Bollywood

Sonakshi Sinha who isn’t afraid to voice her opinions, has spoken up on the subject of the pay gap difference between male and female actors within the Bollywood industry.

Reported in the Hindustan Times, Sinha is on a mission to change the pay gap issue. She says, “The only thing I can think of changing in Bollywood right now is the pay disparity, because we’re working in this day and age where films revolving around women are being made.”

With many women-centric films now being made, Sinha believes it’s only fair to pay the lead actress the same if she is able to carry the entire film on her own. “If a filmmaker shows that kind of trust in a woman, and if she brings the returns [on investment], you can and should give her the pay that you give to the men.”

In the past other actors such as, Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Radhika Apte have also stood up to highlight the inequality shown in the industry.
