Sanjay Leela Bhansali is yet to complete the shoot of Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi.’ However, despite that, there is already a lot of buzz around his next project, ‘Heera Mandi.’ Set in the late 1800s to mid 1950s, Bhansali has collaborated with Netflix for the first time. It was initially supposed to be made into a film, but now will be presented as a web series with the first season providing eight episodes.
Reports say that Sonakshi Sinha will play a pivotal role in this period-drama. “Sonakshi is in initial talks for Heera Mandi and has verbally agreed to be a part of the show. However, she is yet to sign on the dotted line. It’s a very powerful role with some shades of grey,” informs a source close to the development. Besides Sinha, the show will also feature Huma Qureshi, Nimrat Kaur, Sayani Gupta and Manisha Koirala.
The web series is expected to release in the first week of April, reports Pinkvilla. “Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be directing the first two and the last episode, while Vibhu Puri will be directing the remaining ones. Vibhu has begun the pre-production in full swing, while casting for a lot more characters is underway. Major portions of the film will be shot on the sets,” adds the source.
