Sonakshi Sinha to lend her vocals at Global Citizen Festival

With her debut single ‘Aaj Mood Ishqholic Hai’ (2015) making waves with music goers, it seems like it has opened up more opportunities for  Sonakshi Sinha. Reports have it that she will sing during the Global Citizens Festival which will be held in Mumbai, India.

The Global Citizen Festival raises awareness around global issues that the world is effected by. Times of India who will be supporting the event, reports Sinha talking about which issue she is more concerned about, “Gender equality. Many professions still give men an upper hand when it comes to remuneration, treatment, benefits etc. Today, there’s nothing a woman cannot do as well as, if not better than, a man. So why this bias? I also feel strongly about the environment. Pollution is at an all-time high and we need to come together to save our planet because well, it’s the only one we have!”

Talking about the event, the actress-singer expressed, ” It’s true that we live in a male-dominated society. And whether or not anyone is affected by it, indirectly, I think we all are. Right from childhood, girls are moulded in a certain way and are given tags that may not even hold true in today’s times. My only advice would be to rise above all limitations enforced upon us by society and be seen for what we truly are — capable and strong individuals who can rule the world.”

To be held on 19th November, apparently the event will also platform the likes of Jay-Z and Coldplay.
