Sonakshi Sinha on Mungda song remake: “It would be foolish to even try to copy Helen”

Sonakshi Sinha will be seen doing another classic item number in ‘Total Dhamaal’ following her last performance in ‘Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi’ (2017).

Reported in Mumbai Mirror, Sinha will be shaking a leg to ‘Mungda’ which was originally picturised on Helen in ‘Inkaar’ (1978). “It’s a coincidence that my last performance to an iconic song also happened to be Helen aunty’s. It’s great that we can repackage these iconic songs and present them to today’s generation,” said Sinha.

Asked if she feels any pressure to live up to the original, the ‘Ifttefaq’ (2017) actress said the approach is never to imitate. “Helen aunty’s grace and charm are unmatched, and it would be foolish to even try to copy her. Our version is a dance number with spruced-up music, lots of choreography and it’s nothing like the original song,” explains Sinha.

The dance number will feature Sinha and Ajay Devgn, who is one of the main leads in the Indra Kumar directorial; bringing the pair together on screen once again, since their last film ‘Action Jackson’ (2014). Smiling, Sinha shares her delight in being able to pull Devgn’s leg. “Since this was a dance number, I got the chance to pull Ajay’s leg as he hates dancing.” She added how even though it’s been several years, Devgn is one of those people to pick up a conversation from where they left off. “It’s always a pleasure working with him.”

‘Total Dhamaal’ will be releasing later this month on the 22nd February, and also stars Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Arshad Warsi.
