Smriti Irani to reprise Tulsi role in ‘Kyunki…’

Smriti Irani is returning back to basics by reprising the role that made her the household name she is today.

She will once again step in the shoes of character Tulsi in STAR Plus’ long running drama ‘Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’.

Smriti left the show nine months ago to concentrate on her production work as well as working on rival channels. Gautami Kapoor was roped in to essay the role of Tulsi.

Asked producer Ekta Kapoor about what will happen to Gautami when Smriti makes her comeback, she told Rediff, “It is very difficult for an actor to replace another actor, who has already created an image. Gautami is a brilliant actress and she has done a superb job for almost a year. You will see a twist in the story, which will justify both Smriti and Gautami being in the show. Who knows, maybe next month I will come out with big announcement for Gautami.”

According to industry banter, Smriti left ‘Kyunki…’ because of war of words that were allegdly exchanged in directly before. Ekta rubbishes these reports, “If I don’t like a person, I always speak out. I am not a person, who will mince words. I never said anything bad about Smriti nor did she speak against me. We met at the Global Awards event and she made a sweet gesture by talking to me and being a part of the event.”
