It was the first time we saw Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone paired together in ‘Padmaavat’ (2018). For Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his team, they found there was one small problem shooting with their royal couple.
Reported on Deccan Chronicle, there was a slight issue to do with height. Padukone is a bit taller than Kapoor, which meant the team had to work around this and make every effort to ensure their Maharawal Ratan Singh did not look shorter than Rani Padmavati. A close source shared, “It was an ongoing problem during the shooting. Shahid was playing the King and Deepika was playing the Queen. He couldn’t possibly look shorter than her on screen. It would have gone against royal protocol. Bhansali and the unit had to constantly fudge Shahid’s height to make him look as tall.”
This same dilemma is being faced by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who has paired Katrina Kaif opposite Aamir Khan in ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’. A source said, “Katrina is way too tall for Aamir’s height. There is a constant stress on the sets to ensure they look equally matched on screen.”
