SLB had not spoken to Sushant since 2016; offered him four films

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was called in by the Mumbai Police on Monday and was questioned in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case. The director said that he has not spoken to Singh Rajput since 2016 and that he was not aware of any depression.

Sources said that when Bhansali was questioned about the late star’s involvement with two of his films, ‘Ram Leela’ (2013) and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015), he said that Singh Rajput was in fact focused on ‘Paani,’ a production by Yash Raj Films and to be directed by Shekhar Kapur.

Bhansali went on to say that Singh Rajput refused to work on his two movies and he also insisted that the star was never dropped out of his films. According to reports, the filmmaker was questioned by the police for three hours at Bandra Police Station and later for one hour by Zone 9 DCP Abhishek Trimuke at Santacruz Police Station in Mumbai, reports DNA India.

Mumbai Police currently have recorded statements of 29 people who were associated with the late star including close friends that include Rhea Chakraborty, Mahesh Shetty, and producer Sandip Ssingh. Director Mukesh Chhabra and star Sanjana Sanghi from upcoming movie, ‘Dil Bechara,’ were also questioned.

The trailer for ‘Dil Bechara,’ Singh Rajput’s final movie, was released this and will release on Hotstar on 24th July.
