Sky Asia Pack changes to happen “within weeks”

The dismantling of the Sky Asia Pack will take place “within the next few weeks”, BizAsiaLive.com has learnt.

As revealed first on BizAsiaLive.com last year, plans are being put into place to scrap the current £15 per month, Sky Asia Pack, which will see the Asian channels in that bundle moved to the Sky Original Pack. This will see the likes of ZEE TV, ZEE Cinema, ZEE Punjabi, Sony Entertainment Television, Sony MAX and B4U Movies compete directly with the Star TV channels that are also available in the same pack. The Original Pack is the most basic bundle accessed by all Sky subscribers.

Sources close to BizAsiaLive.com have said that the Sky Asia Pack will be phased out by July, with customers being notified of the changes soon. This will also see all the above named channels subscribing to BARB, with official viewing figures being reported from August onwards. This is the first time in the history that flagship services like ZEE TV, Sony TV and B4U Movies will report official UK audience figures.

However, before these changes happen, the UK is expected to see a handful of other new channels for Indian and Pakistani viewers.
