Sky 1 poaches 'Kumars At No.42' from BBC
Sky 1 to broadcast the new series of 'Kumars At No.42'

Sky 1 has been confirmed as the new broadcaster of the upcoming series of ‘Kumars At No.42’, BizAsia can reveal.

‘The Kumars At No.42b’ as the show will be known as will see the family living in a small flat instead of the large house that was shown in the original BBC series.

The show produced by Hatrick Productions, will see Sanjeev Bhaskar reprise his role as well as other characters including mother Madhuri, father Ashwin and Grandma Sushila (referred to as Ummi in the series).

Having fallen on hard times during the recession, the Kumars have moved from Wembley to Hounslow, where they live in a small flat behind a gift shop run by Ashwin.

And other things will have changed in the six years since the show was last aired. Perennially unlucky in love Sanjeev has been married, divorced and now shares custody of his eight-year-old daughter with his ex-wife.

The new series will be shown on Sky 1 in the autumn of this year.
