Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Returns’ has landed itself into trouble after a Hindu organisation alleged that the film’s trailer shows Hindus in a bad light.
Mid-Day reports that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has received around 100 emails objecting to the Ajay Devgn-starrer. Some have asked for certain scenes to be deleted from the film, while others want the film completely banned.
Arvind Pansare, the spokesperson for the organisation, told Mid-Day, In the film, Ajay Devgn is shown praying at a mosque. If the makers can respect Muslims, why aren۪t they showing the same respect to Hindus. Pravachan assumes great significance for us Hindus, so we can۪t ignore his character۪s comment. We didn۪t raise any objections to the first instalment of Singham, but this time we were forced to do so because this film shows disrespect towards Hindus. We want all objectionable scenes to be deleted from the film; if not, the film should be banned.”
The censor board said it had not received the film for certification yet and will take a call after it has seen it.
