British Indian actress Simone Ashley, well-known for her role in Netflix’s ‘Sex Education’, has landed the role of female lead in the forthcoming second season of ‘Bridgerton’.

The web-series has been Netflix’s most popular and when a second season was announces, there was much social media furore as to who would be seen in the lead roles. Ashley has been announced as the leading lady for the coming season and she will be playing Kate Sharma, the ” love” interest of Anthony Bridgerton. This is a slight adaptation from the book Kate Sheffield to Kate Sharma.

The character and her family “were conceived by the series’ producing team as being of Indian descent in a continuation of the reimagined, multi-racial world of 1880s London’s high society”, according to Deadline.
