Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Aiyaary’ still yet to receive CBFC clearance

With ‘Aiyaary’ still yet to to get clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), a question mark hangs over the film’s release next week.

The Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee film has already been shifted from its January release to avoid a clash with ‘Padmaavat’. It now seems that the film could be pushed back if it doesn’t get certified by the board.

A source told DNA India, “Aiyaary was supposed to release on January 26 and then got pushed to February 9 when Padmaavat decided to come on the said date. It’s just a week left for the film to hit screens but it still has not received the Censor certificate yet.”

The source added, “The same happened with Padmaavat where they didn’t give them the certificate on time. The Censor report on Aiyaary shows pending as of now. God knows why they are taking so much time to clear the film.”

Meanwhile, another source told the publication, “The film is a political thriller that deals with the arms deal and the conspiracies that goes on behind closed doors within the military forces which got our defense ministry a little worked up. So the Ministry Of Defence has asked for a screening of the film for them first because they want to review it before it’s cleared. They have still not watched the film and hence there’s a delay in the certification. Once the clean chit comes from the Ministry, the certification will happen in no time.”
