Sidharth Malhotra & Kiara Advani’s ‘Shershaah’ to release online?

With the lockdown still in place, filmmakers are having to make some difficult decisions on the release of their completed projects. With cinemas generally giving them an easier flow of revenue, filmmakers like Karan Johar are looking to the online streaming world to release their smaller budget projects, such as ‘Shershaah’.

Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, the film is based on the life of Kargil Martyr Vikram Batra. Box Office Worldwide reports a source revealing, “Dharma has been in talks with Netflix to sell their smaller budget ventures to them for a web premiere. They have already sold off Janhvi Kapoor starrer ‘Gunjan Saxena’ and now, they are in advance discussed with the OTT platform for the Sidharth-Kiara film as well.”

The film was set to release on 3rd July, however there doesn’t seem to be any indication of the lockdown being lifted by then. “There’s no hope of people returning to theatres in a few months from now, because of the fear psychosis the situation has called for. So, it seemed more practical for the production house to put out a film like ‘Shershaah’ that has been mounted on a moderate budget online,” the source went on to add.
