Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur has signed filmmaker RS Prasanna, who made his directorial debut with ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ (2017), to helm an upcoming project.
Kapur says, “Yes, Prasanna and I will be collaborating on his next film. Like the rest of the country, I loved Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. RS is a talented filmmaker with a fresh voice and has an ability to make unique content and reach out to a mainstream audience. I am sure that together we will make a memorable film.”
Kapur who has backed several films like ‘Dangal’ (2017), ‘Haider’ (2014), ‘Barfi!’ (2012) and ‘Kai Po Che’ (2013), has founded his own production company, Roy Kapur Films, after a long stint at Disney and UTV, reports DNA India.
Among the other films that he is backing includes a biopic on Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian in space. This will have Aamir Khan in the lead and be ‘Dangal’ director Nitesh Tiwari’s next film. Kapur and Prasanna have brainstormed on various subjects for the movie and are close to locking in on one of them. Prasanna says, “We hope to give the audiences a truly special film through our collaboration. Partnering with Sid excites me as a filmmaker, who wants to tell unusual stories that celebrate life in all its ordinariness.”
