For a few days now on social media, since the story broke that makers of the forthcoming ‘Aladdin’ film were finding it difficult finalising someone for the lead role, many have been putting forward suggestions. However, it seems Guy Ritchie has finally confirmed Bollywood actor Siddharth Gupta for the role, BizAsiaLive.com has learnt.
A source close to the film is quoted by Hindustan Times, “The makers were desperate to find an Indian actor who was not only a fresh face but also fits the role of an adventurous boy. Siddharth is perfect for it, and has already signed the Non Disclosure agreement with the Film’s makers”.
Sasha Agha and Tara Sutaria are believed to be contending for the role of Jasmine. The source added, “Both the actresses gave the audition, and have been shortlisted from hundreds of candidates”.
Gupta was seen in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘ Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi’ (2014).
The makers haven’t been available for comment but no doubt an official announcement will come in good time.
