Shyam Benegal to replace censor board chairman Pahlaj Nihalani?

Statements from the censor board’s chairman Pahlaj Nihalani against ‘Udta Punjab’ has landed him under the scanner, and he might be replaced by filmmaker Shyam Benegal.

As according to the Asian Age, ‘I&B’ minister Arun Jaitely said, “There is a well documented report by Shyam Benegal, the first part of which has come to me and which is under consideration. Over the next few days we are going to announce some very radical changes in that. The correct word is certification, and not censorship. Certification norms will have to be liberal.”

‘Udta Punjab’ was slated for a 17th June release. It is to be seen as to how long the film is delayed.
