‘Shuddhi’ rescheduled to release on Diwali 2016

Salman Khan Jai Ho 1

Karan Johar has announced that his ambitious project ‘Shuddhi’, which has been in troubled waters for the past few months, will now release on Diwali 2016.

Yesterday BizAsia reported that Salman Khan has been roped in by Johar to star in the film ending months of rumours about its leading actor. It is currently not known who will be paired opposite Khan.

Johar tweeted, “#SHHUDDHI will star SALMAN KHAN and will release Diwali 2016…..@shhuddhimovie”

Previously, Johar said ‘Shuddhi’ was going to release in December 2015 when the project was announced with Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. However, since they walked out from the project, there have been endless rumours about who will replace them.

What’s further interesting is that this will be Khan’s first Diwali film since 2007 when ‘Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’ released. Arch rival, Shah Rukh Khan has dominated the box office for the past few years with ‘Don’ (2006), ‘Om Shanti Om’ (2007), ‘Ra.One’ (2011), ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ (2012) and ‘Happy New Year’ (2014).
